PRIVATEYEZ STUDIO TATTOO AFTERCARE:

  • WHEN USING SECOND SKIN:

Leave second skin on for up to 5 days from the time applied- ONLY if the bandage stays in place and does not leak or puncture. Blood, plasma and ink will continue to fill up the plastic with fluid and may obscure your tattoo. If the second skin feels uncomfortable or especially itchy/ forms a rash, you may be allergic to the adhesive- in which case remove immediately. You may shower as normal- avoiding abrasive scrubbing over the bandage. Continue to avoid strenuous exercise and sun exposure until the 2 weeks of healing is complete. To remove bandage, hop in a warm shower and slowly peel off- you may at this point use warm soapy water to help release adhesive- if there remains sticky residue after the bandage is removed- you may use rubbing alcohol to clean it up- DO NOT get alcohol on the tattoo as it will sting. When the bandage comes off, continue to keep an eye on it and wash morning and night or anytime it gets sweaty/ compromised, followed by a light application of recommended lotion. Follow the instructions below- depending on when you remove second skin-

Jump in to whatever day you are on and go from there. If for any reason you dislike the second skin it may be removed when you wish. Contact a doctor with any severe reactions.

  • WHEN USING TRADITIONAL HEALING:

TODAY: Remove bandage after 3 hours. If it sticks run warm soapy water over and around it to release adhesion. Wash hands thoroughly before touching tattoo! We recommend using Dial Gold liquid antibacterial soap to use with warm water to wash your new tattoo. Pat dry with a clean paper towel (NOT YOUR BATH TOWEL) or air-dry, and then apply a very thin layer of Aquaphor healing ointment. This evening, make sure your sheets are clean, and wear a loose dark cotton breathable garment that protects your bedding and tattoo, as it will likely produce liquid (ink, blood/plasma).

DAYS 1-2: Repeat aforementioned cleaning routine (soap, pat/air-dry, ointment) morning and night, and anytime you think the cleanliness of the tattoo has been compromised. If the ointment causes irritation, discontinue use. Avoid excess ointment as the tattoo needs to stay moisturized, but also breathe and form a scab. Opt to wear protective clothing over your tattoo while healing.

DAYS 3-7: Wash morning and night, and switch to a fragrance free, dye free body lotion of your choice, (Lubriderm, or Eucerine are both great.) You may use the lotion whenever the tattoo feels dry or starts to peel or flake. It is quite common for your tattoo in this phase to become itchy, please refrain from scratching! In the first week as the skin is healing, you can expect a certain amount of soreness, redness and or light bruising- this is all normal. If you see signs of a potential infection - (abnormal pus, severe discoloration, or fever) contact your doctor! We are unable to help you with an infection that requires antibiotics, or your bodies rejection of ink. Tattoos typically take around 2 weeks to heal, so plan accordingly! For the first two weeks we recommend avoiding: Sun exposure, sunscreen, excessive exercise, swimming/submersion in bodies of water- (showers are good). Dont touch the tattoo unless cleaning or moisturizing. Email Privateyez Studio with additional questions.
