PRE/Aftercare

Day of Tattoo-

This is a medical procedure, treat it as such.

Please be rested, not hungover, not overly caffeinated, hydrated and fed.

Do not come in with a sunburn, a rash, or sick. Reschedules will cost you money and cost me time!

Bring with you: Water Bottle, snack, headphones/book (if this helps) and Mask! (I have some too).

Please wear appropriate clothing to access different areas we may put the tattoo!

Expect to care for your tattoo and be out of direct sun/ water submersion for about 2 weeks!

TODAY:

Leave bandage on for 3 hours, or until you are home or in a good place to clean

and care for your tattoo.

  • Remove bandage. If it sticks run warm soapy water over and around it to release adhesion. Wash hands thoroughly before touching tattoo! We recommend using Dial Gold liquid antibacterial soap to use with warm water to wash your new tattoo. Pat dry with a clean paper towel (NOT YOUR BATH TOWEL) or air-dry, and then apply a thin layer of Aquaphor healing ointment. This evening, make sure your sheets are clean, and wear a loose dark cotton breathable garment that protects your bedding as tattoo may still produce liquid (ink, blood/plasma)

DAYS 1-3:

  • Repeat aforementioned cleaning routine (soap, pat/air-dry, ointment) morning and night, and anytime you think the cleanliness of the tattoo has been compromised. If the ointment causes irritation, discontinue use. Avoid excess ointment as the tattoo needs to stay moisturized, but also breathe and form a scab.

DAYS 4-7:

  • Wash morning and night, but discontinue use of Aquaphor after cleaning. Switch to a fragrance free, dye free body lotion of your choice, (Lubriderm, or Eucerine are both great.) You may use the lotion whenever the tattoo feels dry or starts to peel or flake. It is quite common for your tattoo in this phase to become itchy, please refrain from scratching! In the first week as the skin is healing, you can expect a certain amount of soreness, redness and or light bruising- this is all normal. If you see signs of a potential infection - (abnormal pus, severe discoloration, or fever) contact your doctor! We are unable to help you with an infection that requires antibiotics, or your bodies rejection of ink.

  • It is recommended you avoid extreme physical exertion that results in heavy sweat and or getting dirty. The first week is the most important in the tattoo healing process for the life of your tattoo! Also, try to stick with natural fiber clothing surrounding the tattoo if it needs to be covered for work so the wound may still breath but be protected.

  • Avoid submersion/soaking in pools/baths/hottubs/bodies of water for AT LEAST the first week, ideally for 2. Avoid sun exposure, tanning and excessive alcohol consumption. When the tattoo is fully healed- we recommend you keep it moisturized and apply 40spf + sunscreen, as the sun fades the ink. Continue this for the life of your tattoo to care for it.

  • Healing is mainly common sense- do not touch your tattoo unless cleaning or moisturizing it. If there are issues with the healing, please email the artist with clear photos and you may schedule a touchup.

  • Small touchups are complimentary within the first three months but if you did not follow the healing instructions plan to pay the shop minimum to cover the artists time/ equipment cost.

  • Tattoos are given with the best of our ability, but are never 100% guaranteed. You play a big role in how it all heals up so baby that new pet of yours! If you have any questions or concerns, please email or DM the artist.
